MARE REPRODUCTIVE SERVICES :

• Blue Chip Farms provides full service care for mares and their resulting foals commencing from the time a mare is bred.  Reproductive preparation for current and future breeding seasons is essential. Blue Chip’s veterinarian and staff breed over 150 mares on farm each season with over 90% success rate by closely monitoring each mare using advanced technology to electronically chart heat cycles for optimum insemination success.   

  Resident boarders have preferred access to Blue Chip managed stallions.

  Blue Chip accepts fresh semen from other major stallions in the industry. 

  In permitted sire stakes programs, Blue Chip also provides Embryo Transfer services for mares and can arrange for recipient mares, including providing boarding services for recipient mares.

FOALING AND JUVENILE CARE:

• Blue Chip's Standardbred program will nurture and raise foals from birth until the end of the yearling year. The farm caters to clients who breed for the commercial yearling market as well as those who wish to campaign their own home breds.   
  
  Weanlings and yearlings are shed raised, allocated by age and sex, in groups of 12-18, depending on the field size (minimum of 20 acres).
  
  Each foal/young horse is trimmed and vaccinated appropriately according to age.  Blue Chip’s staff provides physical updates for owners who can’t visit regularly.

YEARLING PREPARATION:

• Whether retained by their owners for racing, or to be showcased at sale each yearling is thoroughly handled prior to leaving the farm during the summer and early fall months. 
  
  Retained yearlings:  Each yearling proceeding directly to the owner’s stable from the farm will be given a 2-3 week shipping prep prior to departure.
  
  Sale yearlings:   Blue Chip has been a leading consignor in the sport’s premier yearlings sales for the past 5 years. Each sale yearling receives an eight week prep.   During that time the Farm actively encourages prospective trainer/owner review of the yearlings on-farm including hosting yearling preview events.  Other marketing strategies include sending out over a 1000 DVDs per sale to potential purchasers plus extensive advertising in periodical, racetrack venues, and via our website.

STALLION SERVICES:

• Blue Chip has over 40 years of experience in managing stallions.   For Standardbreds we can offer semen freezing services in the off season for export to Europe or the Southern Hemisphere.   The farm also provides stallion handling services to 1) educate young stallions to the artificial collection process and 2) provide fertility evaluations as part of pre-purchase testing.

REHABILITATION SERVICES:

• BCF is a perfect rehabilitation facility for racehorses that need time off and turnout. In addition to paddock turnout, the farm has two walkers to provide controlled exercise and conditioning prior to resumption of training.
